The House of small cubes is a 12 minute movie I found while browsing Netflix. The protagonist lives in a house tower on a planet where the sea levels have risen. He has to continue building onto his house to keep safe from flooding. One day he accidentally drops his pipe into one of the lower levels of his home. He buys scuba gear in order to retrieve it. As he continues down to the lower levels, memories come flooding back of the time when each level of his home was the top level. It's sort of a depressing film but at 12 minutes long you can't go wrong.
Shot in Ireland and Poland - a journey that explores ideas of decision, choice, consequence, circumstance and time among other things, a personal perception on how we try to find whatever it is we are searching for.The film looks at objects, people, and places which share common properties, our connection with one another and our environments in the very similar yet very different paths we share.
There is a hint of an under water circus, and many of the performers are acrobats. The sea water, if that's what it is, is yellowish brown. A full-faced sun rises from the Sun King's cradle, while a moon of Saturn circles the planet. The cut-out animation moves airily through a time-distorted world, where dizziness barely maintains a balance, and conventional time-sense disappears. The music of John Davis, which has been slowed to half speed, reverberates eerily throughout the pulsing series of performances, and one wonders whether in the next scene one can catch one's balance. The timing throughout is musical, and suggests a barely upheld world of sanity; of course the dream world creeps into the conscious mind's puritanical sense of propriety, rendering a secondary sense of unbalance facing trial at the bar of...whatever comes to mind. Delirium?

A wind strike, a splash of water and an accomplice look. Will they be enough to change the life of a child?
A terrible misunderstanding between a mouse and a frog provokes an escalation of reprisals and revenge that will culminate in the war between the people of Mice and the people of Frogs who both live on the edge of a field. But a real threat to this small world at war comes from somewhere else. Inspired by Batrachomyomachia (Battle of Frogs and Mice) a comic epic attributed to Homer.
Toru Matsumoto's official music video with Mirai Mizue's interesting hypnotical-rhythmical animation.
The short film is about a boy who lives and works on a farm. One day when going to sell vegetables at a market, his cart breaks down. Two strangers, a frog and a mole, offer him a strange seed in exchange for the vegetables. The boy accepts and finds that the seed grows into a miniature planet. It continues growing as he tends to it, forming an atmosphere, weather systems and life. After being taken back to the city, he meets the stranger who sold the seed to him, and they release the planet into a galaxy of similar planets, where it will grow for years until becoming a real planet.
The short film's main character is a diving bell spider who seems to have fallen in love with a water strider. Although she is scared of him at first, the water strider soon gets used to the presence of the spider.
Chu Zumo is the story of an old farmer who discovers a group of rats heading to a sumo wrestling bout. After they lose miserably he decides to feed the rats to boost their chances of winning.
The film is an adaptation of a picture book by Rieko Nakagawa and Yuriko Yamawaki, with illustrations by Yuriko Omura. In the story, a boy named Yuuji and a rabbit named Gikku find a stick at the same time, and decide to compete in games to decide who can keep the stick. However, whether it is a foot race, long jump, or sumo wrestling, they always end up in a tie.
