Gary Rhodes

Profile

Gary Rhodes (22 April 1960 – 26 November 2019) was an English restaurateur and television chef, known for his love of British cuisine and ingredients and for his distinctive spiked hair style. He hosted shows such as MasterChef UK, MasterChef USA, Hell's Kitchen, and his own series, Rhodes Around Britain. In 2006, he competed to represent the South of England in the BBC's Great British Menu. Rhodes went on to feature in the ITV1 program Saturday Cooks, as well as the UKTV Food show Local Food Hero. He owned four restaurants and had his own line of cookware and bread mixes. He was created an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) on June 17, 2006. Sadly, Rhodes died at the age of 59 in Dubai, UAE, on November 26, 2019. Born : 22nd-Apr-1960

MasterChef

- MasterChef is a BBC television competitive cooking show. It initially ran from 1990 to 2001 and was later revived in a different format known as MasterChef Goes Large from 2005 onwards. In 2008, the "Goes Large" part of the name was dropped, but the format remains identical. The revamped format was devised by Franc Roddam and John Silver with Karen Ross producing. The series now appears in four versions: the main MasterChef series, MasterChef: The Professionals for working chefs, Celebrity MasterChef, and Junior MasterChef, for 9-to-12-year-olds. The format has been reproduced around the world in a large number of international versions.

- Junior MasterChef is a British TV cookery competition, broadcast by the BBC, in which nine- to twelve-year-olds compete to be crowned Junior MasterChef. It is a spin-off from the main series MasterChef. Junior MasterChef first ran from 1994 to 1999, presented by Loyd Grossman. After a long hiatus, it was revived in 2010 in a revamped format, presented by writer and actress Nadia Sawalha, previously a Celebrity MasterChef contestant and restaurant owner, and professional chef John Torode, who also presents MasterChef. The revival series was commissioned by CBBC Controller Anne Gilchrist and produced by Shine Television, and was broadcast on BBC One. A further series was commissioned in 2012 for broadcast on CBBC.

Self - Shooting Stars is a British television comedy panel game broadcast on BBC Two as a pilot in 1993, then as 3 full series from 1995 to 1997, then on BBC Choice from January to December 2002 with 2 series before returning to BBC Two for another 3 series from 2008 until its cancellation in 2011. Created and hosted by double-act Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, it uses the panel show format but with the comedians' often slapstick, surreal and anarchic humour does not rely on rules in order to function, with the pair apparently ignoring existing rules or inventing new ones as and when the mood takes them.
