Nick was born in London and raised in Southall by his parents Pat and Eddie. He has one brother, John, and three sisters; Angela, Sheila and Karen. Nick credits his large, loving family for their unconditional support whilst he made up his mind which career to pursue. He briefly pursued careers in rugby, music and acting before discovering his passion for writing, directing and presenting TV. Nick has four children, Charles, Tuesday, TJ and Eddie. - DIY SOS is a British DIY television series made for the BBC, presented by Nick Knowles. The first episode was broadcast on 7 October 1999 and the show is still airing today. As well as being a DIY programme it also features comic relief from the cast.

Real Rescues

- Real Rescues is a British documentary broadcast on BBC One exploring the daily work of the emergency services aired since 15 October 2007. Real Rescues is at the heart of the action with the emergency services of Hampshire including the police, fire, ambulance, coastguard and lifeboat crews. A majority of the footage has been shot around Portsmouth and Fareham. Reruns are on Watch and CBS Reality. In the later series, other counties from across the UK began to be featured. Other emergency services, such as mountain rescue and animal rescue, were also featured.

Comic Relief Does Fame Academy

- Comic Relief Does Fame Academy is a spin-off of the original Fame Academy show where celebrities sing as students of the Academy. The programme was launched in 2003 to help raise money for the charities supported by Comic Relief, with the final of the show occurring on Red Nose Day. Coverage of the show was widely shown on BBC One, BBC Three, BBC Prime and the CBBC Channel. Many consider the celebrity version of the show to be far more successful than its predecessor. The Comic Relief series returned in 2005 and again in March 2007. It was announced by the BBC that Cat Deeley would not return because she was hosting So You Think You Can Dance. However, Patrick Kielty returned with co-host and host of the former spin-off show Claudia Winkleman.
