Basil Ruysdael (July 24, 1888 - October 10, 1960) was an American film actor and opera singer. Full list of TV and Movie credits for Basil Ruysdael.. He started his career as a baritone singer for the Metropolitan Opera Company in the early 1900's and appeared on the New York stage in 1918. Moving to California in 1923, he was a voice teacher for many actors. Encouraged to try acting himself, he made his big screen debut in "Cocoanuts" (1929). For the next 30 years he was a frequent character performer in films to include "Come to the Stable" (1949), "Broken Arrow" (1950), "People Will Talk" (1951), "The Last Hurrah" (1958) and "The Horse Soldiers" (1960). He also did voice over in "101 Dalmatians" (1961) and appeared on the TV shows "Perry Mason", "Official Detective", "Father knows Best" and "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color. He at the age of 72 of complications following surgery. Born : 23rd-Jul-1888

Raton Pass

Raton Pass is a curious western based on the rules of Community Property. Dennis Morgan and Patricia Neal portray a recently married husband and wife, each of whom owns half of a huge cattle ranch. Neal is a tad more ambitious than her husband, and with the help of a little legal chicanery she tries to obtain Morgan's half of the spread. He balks, so she hires a few gunslingers to press the issue. In a 1951 western, the greedy party usually came to a sorry end; Raton Pass adheres strictly to tradition.

The Story of Ruth

Ruth is an unusual character in the Bible. First she's a female protagonist, one of a select few there. Secondly her story gets its own book in the Old Testament, a short item of only four chapters. Lastly she's the first non-Hebrew protagonist in the Bible since Abraham sired the Hebrew people. It's a simple story in the Old Testament. Ruth is one of two Moabite women who marry the sons of Elimelech and Naomi. When Elimelech and sons Mahlon and Chillion die, leaving Naomi a widow with two widowed daughters-in-law, Naomi decides to return to Israel. One daughter-in-law, Orpah, bids her goodbye. Daughter-in-law Ruth however says she will not desert her. She's going to give up the life and culture of Moab and her people will be Naomi's people in the most famous line from the Book of Ruth.
