Miles from Nowhere

Sickness. Chaos. Death. As the Quarantine Zones fill, bodies pile in the streets. Society crumbles to a wasteland. In the house of Sean and Avery, two do-gooders holding onto desperate hope, survivors find comfort in their final days. Yet no sanctuary of brick and plastic can protect the mind, and Sean finds himself forced to make the ultimate choice as the disease seeps into his home and makes monsters of its inhabitants.

Elena and Antonio seem not to be made for each other. They are too different in terms of character, life choices, worldview, and the way they relate to others. They are total opposites. However, they are overwhelmed by a mutual attraction they're trying hard to avoid; but to which they succumb to.

MARIANNE (Evabritt Strandberg) is a 68-year old woman diagnosed with a terminal disease. Memory, love, and mental health are explored in this hybrid-fiction-cinema-play about two adolescents that decide to escape from the world around them, by none other than locking themselves away in an old projector room at the Cinematheque.

This project was born when I discovered a letter that my mom had written to a friend before her death. The attention she felt there, its simple and colorful form, which supports a text filled with emotions, memories, fears, but above all with hope and joy, deeply marked me. Between reality, memories and songs, around this letter which puts into images the inner journey that her writing must have led her to make, this fiction plunges us into the reflection that the announcement of the disease awakened in her...

Joanna wanted to become a physician. After she meets Albert, a cancer survivor and fellow doctor, her life changes. Albert's cancer has returned. He encourages Joanna to carry on. He believes that God placed her here for a reason and will eventually reveal his plans. After his passing, Joanna takes up his mettle and becomes a brilliant doctor. Her self-sacrifice became an inspiration to millions in the grip of a deadly epidemic.
