Bashu, the Little Stranger

During the Iran-Iraq War, Bashu, a young boy loses his house and all his family. Scared, he sneaks into a truck that is leaving the area. He gets off the truck in the Northern part of the country, where everything from landscape to language is different. He meets Naii, who is trying to raise her two young children on a farm, while her husband is away. Despite cultural differences, and the fact that they do not speak the same language, Bashu and Naii slowly form a strong bond.

Domrol

Domrol is a young and strong guy. He wins the title of “the champion of champions” after defeating all the other athletes. After a while though, he starts missing real fights and the fact that he has no opponents to fight anymore saddens him. As a result, he starts hurting people in order to satisfy his need for quarrel. He later finds a proper opponent, but he dies of a bee sting. This enrages Domrol no end, and he starts cussing at God. At that moment, the angel of death appears before him and informs him that should he fail to find a volunteer who would be willing to die for him before the sunrise, his own life will be taken. Domrol begs his parents, but they refuse to do such a sacrifice. Finally his wife accepts to surrender to the angel of death instead of Domrol, but after God sees their pure love, he forgives them.

The Man Who Knew too Much

A young employee named Mehraban who is unhappy with his hard life meets a mysterious old man dressed in black. The old man says he will get Mehraban what he wants on the condition that he make the right use of his opportunities. Mehraban agrees. The old man leaves a newspaper with him dated three months in the future reporting the war between Iran and Iraq. Mehraban makes a lot of money by purchasing essential goods, hoarding them and then selling them later at much higher prices during the war. However he loses his fiancee and breaks with his friends. The mysterious old man appears again. He tells him he has abused his privileged opportunity and not to continue on the wrong path; on their last meeting he tells him he has become a monster and he must either to go back to his former life or die. The fear of death causes Mehraban to donate his illegitimate funds to charities and return to his honorable life.

The Pharmacist - Hezar-Dastan was an Iranian epic historical drama television series from 1987, developed and directed by Ali Hatami. Hezar Dastan is considered one of the most important and most influential works of art in the history of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting. The production of the show took almost 8 years, starting in 1979 and ending in 1987, during which Hatami established a large set to represent Tehran in both Qajar dynasty and World War II, retroactively creating Iran's first movie studio and backlot (named Ghazali Cinema Town). The show tells the story of Reza Khoshnevis (also known as Reza Tofangchi), and his life and entanglement with corruption in government, and trying to correct it using not conventional means. The story is split into two section and it features Iran during the turbulent times of the latter days of Qajar Dynasty and during the events of World War II and Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran.
