Claudio Amendola (born 16 February 1963) is an Italian actor, director and television presenter. He starred in the 1993 film The Escort, which was entered into the 1993 Cannes Film Festival. Born in Rome and the son of actors and voice dubbers Ferruccio Amendola and Rita Savagnone, Amendola started his movie career during the 1980s, playing comic roles in some Italian comedies directed by Carlo Vanzina. In 1987 he played his first dramatic role in Soldati - 365 all'alba, directed by Marco Risi, and in the following decade he confirmed his dramatic skills in some movies like Ultrà (1990) and The Escort (1993), both directed by Ricky Tognazzi. During the 2000s Amendola became a very popular television actor, acting in the popular fiction I Cesaroni, the Italian version of Los Serrano. Amendola is married to actress Francesca Neri and they have a son together, Rocco. He also has two daughters from a previous marriage. One of them is voice actress Alessia Amendola. The Voyage of Captain Fracassa

Cefalonia

Cefalonia tells the real story about what happened in September 1943 on the Greek island of Kefalonia (Cefalonia in Italian), when the 12,000 men in the Italian 33rd Acqui Infantry Division, following Italy's surrender to the Allied, refused to put themselves under German command and also refused to surrender their weapons. The local German force, supported by Stuka dive-bombers and additional troops, attacked the Italians and after several days of combat the Italians surrendered, having lost 1,300 men. As punishment, the German High Command ordered that all surviving Italians should be executed. Some 5,000 were executed during a week of killings. A handful were rescued by locals and the Greek guerrilla, while the rest were shipped off as prisoners, whereof 3,000 drowned when their ships hit mines. The film "Captain Corelli's Mandolin" is based on a novel about the Italian occupation of Cefalonia, but the massacre was much toned down in the Hollywood version.

Thirteen years later, Giovanni and Costanza fall in love to the jealousy of her uncle, who shuts her in a convent, ordering Giovanni to be killed by Malacarne who has meanwhile become a bandit. Barely alive, Giovanni is taken away by Bourbon soldiers. After Garibaldi’s arrival in Sicily and its union with Italy, Costanza is freed from the convent and returns to San Germano. She is visited by Giovanni and although still loves him, rejects him since she wishes to become a nun. In the meantime, Giovanni kills Malacarne and takes his place. Costanza marries the rich Lo Turco and the next day departs for Naples, but during the journey the carriage is attacked by Giovanni’s band. Costanza flees with him and they leave for America.

Strong Arms

The story of four inmates during their 48 hours furlough, of their reality and how it has brought them behind bars. Johnny the Partisan

After the 8th September 1943 north of Italy is occupied by Germans. Italian army collapsed and the soldiers are escaped to the mountains trying to set up a resistance. Many civilians did the same and Johnny, an English literature student, is among them. Johnny avoids to band together the red partisans (communists) and tries to be part of the azure bands (former regular soldiers). But in both cases he is deluded by the partisan bands and discovers that the partisan war is less poetic and genuine that he thought. At one point anyway the partisans free Alba from Germans. When the city falls again in German hands Johnny escape with Ettore and Pierre. But, one after another, German army and Italian fascists captures the partisans and Johnny will pass the winter alone and isolated. He then finds the way to participate to one of the last attack to occupants, in fact the war will be over two months later.
