Profile

Isaac Hernández was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, one of 11 children of Hector Hernández. Trained at Philadelphia's The Rock School for Dance Education, he has worked as a professional ballet dancer at the American Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet, Dutch National Ballet and the English National Ballet where he is currently (2018) Lead Principal Dancer. Apart from his dance career, he has also become an icon for the arts and culture in Mexico, promoting them as a force for social cohesion and progress through free cultural events, workshops and his non-profit organization Releve A.C. He is also an ambassador for the brands Montblanc, citibank and Maestro Dobel. Born : 30th-Apr-1990

Through two radically contrasting 2016 productions - a traditional 19th-century recreation, and a gritty reimagining of the work by celebrated Anglo-Bangladeshi choreographer Akram Khan - Rojo examines the cultural and social background to the ballet’s genesis in 1840s Paris, and the spiritual themes that have fuelled its success over the last 175 years. Giselle is the story of a young peasant girl who personifies all that is good in life, and ultimately forgives the aristocrat who has seduced and betrayed her. With Giselle, the look and emotional heart of ballet was transformed forever, from mime-based storytelling to a fusion of emotion, music and movement, formulating a tradition that has inspired audiences, dancers and choreographers ever since.

Whichever couple receives the lowest total amount of judges' critique and audience votes is eliminated until a champion is named at the end. Each celebrity is competing for a grand total of $50,000 for a charity of their choice.
