Alan Richard Vint (November 11, 1944 - August 16, 2006) was an American character actor. Vint was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He appeared in a number of supporting roles during the 1970s in films such as The Panic in Needle Park (1971) Badlands (1973), Macon County Line (1974), and Earthquake. He also made guest appearances on such television series as Police Story, Emergency!, Hawaii Five-O, Adam-12, Lou Grant and Baretta. Vint appeared in several films with his brother Jesse Vint. He was married to Susan Mullen and had three daughters - Kelly, Kate and Megan Vint also actors. Vint and Mullen eventually divorced. Alan Vint died in Sherman Oaks, California on August 16, 2006 of an unknown illness that caused all of his major organs to fail. Police Story

- Police Story is an anthology television crime drama. The show was the brainchild of author and former policeman Joseph Wambaugh and represented a major step forward in the realistic depiction of police work and violence on network TV. Although it was an anthology, there were certain things that all episodes had in common; for instance, the main character in each episode was a police officer. The setting was always Los Angeles and the characters always worked for some branch of the LAPD. Notwithstanding the anthology format, there were recurring characters. Scott Brady appeared in more than a dozen episodes as "Vinnie," a former cop who, upon retirement, had opened a bar catering to police officers, and who acted as a sort of Greek chorus during the run of the series, commenting on the characters and plots.

The hero did not carry a firearm and was generally opposed to the use of violence to solve problems, preferring other means. Margot Kidder portrayed Ruth, the love interest/barmaid of Nichols.
