A Metamorfose

Working-class family melodrama, rapey-stepfather style.

At Christmas time, 19 year old Simon returns home to visit his dysfunctional family with Louise, a fearless girl he met during his train ride. While Simon struggles to cope with the growing distance between him and his parents, he starts to examine his feelings when Louise develop a liaison of her own with his childhood friend Mathieu.

A man comes home to meet his mother and sister after many years away. He finds his mother living with a new boyfriend, and his sister to be grown-up. He begins to settle down in this new place by building a new home for himself on the delta. But when his sister moves in with him and the two begin a romance, there are tragic consequences.

The film starts with a short scene ending with shot of Sayuri Yoshinaga's character floating dead on the surface of a lake before the opening credits roll in and we find out what lead her character to this end.

When the two opposites meet they realize that their differences don’t matter and they become best friends and love each other.
