Raised on Rock - The Burnette Family Legacy

Lengua de diamante submerges into the past, present, and future life of Elsa Riveros, Colombia’s First Lady of Rock. Long after her iconic career as a fierce 80s rock singer, Elsa now seeks to reinvent herself as a political painter in northern Virginia, where she raises her son.

This short film tells about a young, but already well-known flutist Denis Bourikov. A winner of international competitions and a scholar of the "New Names" program, in his fourteen years he traveled the world, gave solo concerts, performed in the residences of the Pope of Rome and the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. James Galway, one of the best flutists of the world, said about him: "Denis, without a doubt, is the most capable young musician. I believe he has a great future". Tracing the creative path of this gifted flutist, the film tries to reveal his complex inner world.

Keyla's Letter delves into the ambitions, hobbies, and interests of Keyla Aldana (she/they), the founder and one of three administrators on the very popular Harry Styles Instagram update account, @harryflorals. Behind their voice-over narration is a documentation of the days leading up to and during two separate Harry Styles concerts that took place in Los Angeles, California.

"A soundscape is any collection of sounds, almost like a painting is a collection of visual attractions," says composer R. Murray Schafer. "When you listen carefully to the soundscape it becomes quite miraculous." David New's portrait of the renowned composer becomes a lesson unto itself, gracing viewers (and listeners) with a singular moment of interactive subjectivity. This film was produced for the 2009 Governor General's Performing Arts Award.

The Women Of Rockabilly – Welcome To The Club is a documentary search for the "Female Elvis", as we meet the women of rockabilly music and explore the "what-if’s?" and "what-now’s" of their careers. Brenda Lee, Wanda Jackson, Janis Martin and a sassy cast of lesser but no less colorful pretenders to the throne describe their trailblazing days when they were the embodiment of exuberance, sexuality and defiance in a world that wasn’t quite ready for them. A rockin’ feature documentary by Beth Harrington.

In this brand new featurette, executive producer T Bone Burnett and the Coen brothers discuss the history of some of the songs that heard in Inside Llywin Davies and possible origin of the stories they tells, the folk movement during the 1960s and the social and cultural ideas that it represented, the authenticity and the identity of folk music and the balance between the two, the future of folk music, etc. Included with the featurette are illustrations by Drew Christie. The featurette was created exclusively for Criterion in 2015.
