The main event featured a Light Heavyweight bout between former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin and former Pride Middleweight Champion and Pride Welterweight Champion Dan Henderson. The winner of the fight would become the coach opposite Michael Bisping for the ninth season of The Ultimate Fighter: United States vs. United Kingdom.

UFC 94: St-Pierre vs. Penn 2 was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on January 31, 2009. The main event featured the rematch of the UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre against the UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn for the UFC Welterweight Championship.

Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Gracie was the inaugural mixed martial arts event promoted by Strikeforce. The event took place at the HP Pavilion at San Jose in San Jose, California on March 10, 2006. The main event was the long awaited match between Frank Shamrock, returning to the sport after a 3-year absence, and Cesar Gracie. The show is also notable for featuring the MMA debut of Cung Le. This was the first Strikeforce event.

Strikeforce: Revenge was the second mixed martial arts event promoted by Strikeforce. The event took place at the HP Pavilion at San Jose in San Jose, California on June 9, 2006. The main event featured the North American debut of Alistair Overeem.

Strikeforce: Tank vs. Buentello was a mixed martial arts event held on October 7 2006. The event was held by Strikeforce and took place at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California. This event featured the debut of future UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez.

Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Baroni was a mixed martial arts event co-promoted by Strikeforce and EliteXC. The event took place on Friday, June 22, 2007 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. The main card aired on pay-per-view, with the undercard streamed live on ProElite.com. The PPV event was rebroadcast on the Showtime premium cable channel on June 30, 2007.

Strikeforce: Playboy Mansion was a mixed martial arts event promoted by Strikeforce. The event took place on September 29, 2007 at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles, California. The invitation-only event drew nearly 1,000 spectators who paid $1000 per ticket. The event was supervised by the California State Athletic Commission. Fights 5 to 12 were streamed live on Yahoo Sports for free.

Strikeforce: Four Men Enter, One Man Survives was a mixed martial arts event held at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California on November 16, 2007. The event was hosted by Strikeforce in conjunction with bodogFight, and was streamed live on Yahoo! Sports. The event held two distinctions in that: 1) it contained the first MMA tournament sanctioned by the California State Athletic Commission and 2) Strikeforce's heavyweight champion was determined during the event in a non-tournament fight.

Strikeforce: At The Dome was a mixed martial arts event promoted by Strikeforce in conjunction with Brian Halquist Productions. The event took place at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington on Saturday, February 23, 2008.

UFC 88: Breakthrough was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on September 6, 2008 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The event was headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Chuck Liddell and Rashad Evans.

UFC 87: Seek and Destroy was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on August 9, 2008, at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The card was headlined by a welterweight championship bout between champion Georges St. Pierre and challenger Jon Fitch.
