A gang of criminals, which includes a piano player and an imposing former convict known as 'Gruesome', has found out about a scientist's secret formula for a gas that temporarily paralyzes anyone who breathes it. When Gruesome accidentally inhales some of the gas and passes out, the police think he is dead and take him to the morgue, where he later revives and escapes. This puzzling incident attracts the interest of Dick Tracy, and when the criminals later use the gas to rob a bank, Tracy realizes that he must devote his entire attention to stopping them.

Andre Roosevelt, a cousin to US President Theodore Roosevelt, could afford to trot the globe filming safari and hunting expeditions, and footage from his travels and exploration was combined with some crudely-staged shots,in Hollywood, of him rescuing a ship captain--his sailing-ship captain E. Erskine Loch--and a woman from a cultish native tribe. Andre and Captain Benson (Erskine Loch) go into a Caribbean jungle with Rita de le Vega, whose dad was an explorer who lost his life among the savage Penitentes tribe, but left behind information concerning a treasure. They encounter the tribe who put on a voodoo ceremony by hanging a tribesman on a cross as a sacrifice under the supervision of the voodoo witch doctor. Using underwater diving equipment, Andre & Company find the lost pirate treasure in a stone idol, and head for their yacht with the savages in hot pursuit.

Morgan, a lapsed burglar, is drugged and shanghaied on board a yacht by beautiful Colleen. When he comes to, the athletic young man learns that Colleen and her friends want him to break open the vaults of a Carribean island where a ruthless dictator has deposited a treasure stolen from his people. Despite the way he has been treated, Morgan accepts the mission. The group, supported by local resistant fighters, storm the fortress, but Colleen's father gets killed during the attack. The treasure is finally retrieved and is returned to the people. Morgan and Colleen will say yes to each other for better or for worse.
