A man is murdered, apparently by one of a group of soldiers just out of the army. But which one? And why?

The film interprets a story from the Uttara Kanda of the epic poem Ramayana, where Rama sends his wife, Sita, to the jungle to satisfy his subjects. Sita is never actually seen in the film, but her virtual presence is compellingly evoked in the moods of the forest and the elements. The film retells the epic from a womens' liberationist perspective, and is about the tragedy of power and the sacrifices that adherence to dharma demands, including abandoning a chaste wife.

Rajan Zachariah is a Circle Inspector of Police and he is working in the Palakkad District. He is going to a village situated in the Kerala-Karnataka border to investigate a murder case that is very important to him.

James is a hardworking filmmaker in advertising and his girlfriend Alice works in banking. Against their parent's wishes, the two marry and the movie revolves around the misunderstandings between them caused by their busy lifestyles. Things take a turn when James meets with a freak car accident.

Jurácek's feature debut is shot in two parts. In the first, a corporal accompanies a new recruit with a sore Achilles tendon for his physical, and all the girls or young women they see are played by the same actress (Ruzickova). In the longer second segment, shot with the help of the Czechoslovakia army, the soldiers pass the time during basic training and maneuvers by talking about girls.

An old couple waits to see their grandson. But the only daughter abroad with her child is reluctant to come back. Meanwhile the boatman fails to solve the problem with his wife. She leaves the baby with the boatman and goes away. The decision by the boatman changes the world around the old couple.

Caddish lawyer Lee Gentry is going out with Katy Costello, but carrying on an affair with dancer Carmen Brown. When he wants to end the dalliance with Carmen, she is so distraught that she becomes suicidal. Seizing the gun from Carmen, he accidentally shoots her, and thinking she's dead, concocts a series of increasingly outlandish alibis to cover his tracks under the guidance of a ghostly apparition that is his alter ego.

Set in the future, the story follows a young soldier named Johnny Rico and his exploits in the Mobile Infantry. During the final weeks of a presidential race, the President is accused of sexual misconduct. To distract the public until the election, the President's adviser hires a Hollywood producer to help him stage a fake war.
