A man who accused a catholic bishop of abusing him when he was a child dies in the Austrian city Salzburg. Everyone except his widow and the eccentrical detective Simon Brenner keeps silent and believes that the man killed himself.

A frustrated, unemployed teacher joins forces with a scammer and his girlfriend in a blackmailing scheme.

Father Peter fears that the universe has become indifferent. God no longer intervenes in earthly affairs. These go on a literal "trip" through Christmas-time Madrid to hunt for and prevent the reincarnation of the Antichrist.
