When NYC’s Broadway theater season opens, Katie Sarasola is looking for her big break and producer Kenny Schumacher needs to have a surefire hit. Secretly hoping to cash in on the success of Hamilton, Kenny decides to mount an all Hip Hop version of Abraham Lincoln’s life. An egotistical Hollywood director, clueless trap rapper, washed up choreographer, and an unknown lead actress are hired to bring Kenny's vision to life. Opera in three acts, a prologue and an epilogue, by Jacques Offenbach (1819-1880), with a libretto in French by Jules Barbier (1825-1901), based on a work that Barbier himself and Michel Carré (1821-1872) had written based on stories by E.T.A. Hoffmann (1776-1822). Approximate duration: 2 h 45 min Recommended for those over 15 years old. The young poet Hoffmann, accompanied by Nicklausse, his alter ego and confidant, is in a tavern next to the theatre where Mozart's Don Giovanni is being performed. During the opera's intermission, some diners arrive at the bar who, upon seeing the poet, encourage him to sing and tell them the story of his famous love affairs. Hoffmann finally gives in and shares with them the stories of Olympia, Antonia and Giulietta. They, absorbed in the poet's stories, remain in the tavern, forgetting about the opera performance.

An artist is asked to write by a con artist agent and an improvised historian, a 'performance' to remember Giovanni Battista Casti three hundred years after his birth. A situation and homage that results in a satirical transposition of today.

Props, the stage man, and his assistant at the Orpheum Theater, Plunkville divide their time equally between drinking and attention to duty. Trouble starts when the new acts arrive. The Wiggle sisters, a Hawaiian act, demand the star dressing room but Props turns them down, but relents when Babe, the strong man, and his beautiful wife, Ethel Burton because he is smitten. Once the show begins Props is forever getting in the way of the performers and his bibulous assistant has an unfortunate propensity for dropping the curtain at the wrong moments. Things only get crazier from there.
