Okay, so first off I had no idea this was a Christian film before I watched it, I thought I was watching a low budget indie psychological thriller, instead I got this terrible piece of crap. I don't follow a religion, I can handle religious movies so long as they don't preach too much. This one did, but this is not why I'm giving it such a low rating. It earns it's low rating by failing on almost every technical, logical and entertainment level. Honestly there is so much to hassle about this movie I don't really know where to start. Despite tonnes of forced exposition the plot makes little to no sense. Characters do and say things for no reason, apart from faith, or an evil lack thereof. Essentially a father and son run and hide from an evil faithless government official who is about as threatening as a box of tissues. They encounter people with faith who help them, or people without faith who hinder them. There is no subtlety, christians are good, everyone else is bad. Every single character is a cliche you have seen somewhere else in a better film. There are no stakes, no tension, because god will intervene whenever anything bad happens. The film is poorly shot, long tracking shots are juddery and jumpy because they don't have the equipment to properly film them. The old hiding behind a log when the soldier would clearly be able to see you pops up all to often. A sniper who can hit someone in the head in a moving vehicle, through the windshield front on, can't hit the passengers in the car because he's to the left of the vehicle. Yet somehow I guess the devil curved his bullet to go round to the front of the car to hit the driver? Sure, makes as much sense as the rest of the film. Dialogue is forced and cheesy, badly delivered by people who really want to do a good job, but just don't have the skills to pull it off. One of the most annoying aspects of the film, is Embry Johnson as Caleb. The dude is going through puberty, and his voice sounds like the acne covered nervous teen from The Simpsons who's voice is permanently breaking. He is so distracting and awful sounding, and can't act to boot. Just wait a few months for his voice to settle, or cast someone else. Every line he utters is fingernails down a blackboard. This film is an utter waste of time, totally garbage, and I watched the whole goddamn thing because I'm stubborn. I'm now angry having thought about this film this much!
County Durham, England, 1984. The miners' strike has started and the police have started coming up from Bethnal Green, starting a class war with the lower classes suffering. Caught in the middle of the conflict is 11-year old Billy Elliot, who, after leaving his boxing club for the day, stumbles upon a ballet class and finds out that he's naturally talented. He practices with his teacher Mrs. Wilkinson for an upcoming audition in Newcastle-upon Tyne for the royal Ballet school in London.
When an asteroid threatens to collide with Earth, NASA honcho Dan Truman determines the only way to stop it is to drill into its surface and detonate a nuclear bomb. This leads him to renowned driller Harry Stamper, who agrees to helm the dangerous space mission provided he can bring along his own hotshot crew. Among them is the cocksure A.J. who Harry thinks isn't good enough for his daughter, until the mission proves otherwise.
In 1965, passionate musician Glenn Holland takes a day job as a high school music teacher, convinced it's just a small obstacle on the road to his true calling: writing a historic opus. As the decades roll by with the composition unwritten but generations of students inspired through his teaching, Holland must redefine his life's purpose.
Modern treasure hunters, led by archaeologist Ben Gates, search for a chest of riches rumored to have been stashed away by George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin during the Revolutionary War. The chest's whereabouts may lie in secret clues embedded in the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, and Gates is in a race to find the gold before his enemies do.
Pianist David Helfgott, driven by his father and teachers, has a breakdown. Years later he returns to the piano, to popular if not critical acclaim.
An isolated and lonely old man in the mountains tries to save Sohrab’s, his son, life. But, despite of all his efforts, he cannot change the son’s death sentence and Sohrab is executed. So he takes the body of his son through the mountain and rivers, baptizing him. Meanwhile, the old man also should take care of his grandson.
After a violent storm, a dense cloud of mist envelops a small Maine town, trapping artist David Drayton and his five-year-old son in a local grocery store with other people. They soon discover that the mist conceals deadly horrors that threaten their lives, and worse, their sanity.
In every generation, a torch passes from father to son. And that timeless dynamic is the beating heart of Tommy's Honor - an intimate, powerfully moving tale of the real-life founders of the modern game of golf.
In the mid-1980s, the U.S. is poised on the brink of nuclear war. This shadow looms over the residents of a small town in Kansas as they continue their daily lives. Dr. Russell Oakes maintains his busy schedule at the hospital, Denise Dahlberg prepares for her upcoming wedding, and Stephen Klein is deep in his graduate studies. When the unthinkable happens and the bombs come down, the town's residents are thrust into the horrors of nuclear winter.
