The Gay Old Bird

In this comedy-drama, May Allison plays Teddy Hayden, a very independent society miss. When her childhood sweetheart, Gerry West (Wallace MacDonald) takes her to a Greenwich Village cafe, she thinks she's found where she belongs. So she spends all her time there and gets herself in a load of trouble.

Pete (Nick Stuart) and Bill (John Darrow) are childhood rivals who continue to feud in high school, especially when they both develop feelings for Eleanor Barrett (Sally Phipps). Their rivalry threatens to disrupt the school basketball team, but they eventually make amends.

Assuming the worst Geoffrey Challoner impulsively storms out of the house when he sees his new wife Robin reading old love letters. In his absence, Norman Craig, planning with his wife to lease an upstairs apartment owned by Judge Corcoran, wanders into the Challoners' apartment. Robin, mistaking him for a burglar, shoots him and then runs for a doctor. Returning, Geoffrey again rashly makes assumptions and immediately files for divorce. Mrs. Craig and Norman, who had merely fainted, are invited to Judge Corcoran's weekend home along with the Challoners, whom the judge hopes to reunite. Following a bewildering series of misadventures, including an attempted robbery by the maid and the chauffeur, Geoffrey learns that the love letters were his own, and the young couple are reconciled.

Dalion Pemberton discovers that in order to inherit his grandfather's estate, he must marry Virginia Christy-a complete stranger. Dalion, who doesn't particularly trust or even like women, decides to forgo his grandfather's fortune rather than marry a woman he doesn't know. However, while on a trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, he spots a beautiful woman and immediately falls for her. When he discovers that she is sailing to New York City, he stows away on the ship so he can follow her. Things don't turn out quite the way he planned.

Taxi driver Jim befriends Ruritanian child King Ludwig while the latter is on a visit to London. A plot is afoot by sinister forces to kidnap Ludwig, and Jim becomes caught up in the drama. After the child is abducted Jim uses all his ingenuity, including cross-dressing as a Countess and becoming involved in a car chase, to rescue him from his captors.

A story with a college background revolves around sprinter Charles Paddock, utilizing newsreel footage of the 1924 Olympic Games.

Tex Benton (cowboy star Tom Mix) wants to marry Janet McWhorter (Kathleen O'Connor), but her father (Charles K. French) will give his blessings only if Tex works on his sheep ranch. Tex, a cattleman through and through, refuses and gets his aggressions out by stirring things up at the local saloon.
