Memorial Day, 1993. When 13-year-old Kyle Vogel discovers the World War II footlocker belonging to his grandfather, Bud, everyone tells Kyle to put it back. Luckily, he ignores them. Alia, who lost everything but his family in the war, is forced to take refuge with a Bosnian refugee camp under the protection of the United Nations, along with Anna, a Serb-based wife and two young children.
