Faded Glory: The Von Erich Story

In her directorial debut, Martina di Lorenzo tells the story of two female ski jumpers, Katharina Althaus and Eva Pinkelnig, as they prepare for a groundbreaking change in skiing: the first official ski flying for women in Vikersund, Norway. Until now, this supreme discipline of ski jumping was only available to men. The documentary follows the two athletes through their physical and mental challenges as well as their fight for equality in skiing.

The year was 1999, and a couple of schools four hours apart were embarking on a season-long journey to become the best high school baseball team in Michigan. People can expect seeing their favorite Nitro riders riding stuff that the viewer hopefully can relate to more. Instead of only showing the best tricks on the perfect locations (we will show that as well), we are trying to show how the Nitro riders are snowboarding when all pressure is off. The goal is to capture that feeling you get when you are riding with your best friends, on a perfect day, and you never wanna stop riding.

It shows us how sports can help build bridges of shared values, and potentially lead us toward a future of understanding within Iraq as well as abroad. Above all, Salaam Dunk is a film about basketball, friendship and the pain of losing those we love. From the joy of the team's first win to the pain of losing their coach forever, the film gives us an intimate glimpse into an Iraq we don't see on the news.
