During the summer of 1957 a man called Juan de Dios goes through a convalescence in a country hotel. Following the prescriptions of the doctor, he must take complete rest, "not a single movement, not a single thught". Stretched on a hammock, Juan de Dios must resign to "sinking himself in the boredom, just like a castaway at sea". But suddenly he realizes that immobility is something impossible: Juan de Dios sees himself overwhelmed by a myriad of physical, sound, optical and olfactory sensations,which awaken his spirit. After three hours of this contemplation, he announces his departure in the next day. Back in Barcelona, Juan de Dios gives himself over to the sensationsof the city.

Laura is a fifteen-year-old teenager who receives a letter from her mother, of which she had no news a decade ago. Laura decides to try to go to Holland to meet her, in need of answers and alternatives to the hostile environment that surrounds her. For that, he will have to face Angela, his older sister, a young policewoman who, as a child, was forced to take the reins of the family when she was orphaned. Angela will try, by all means, to keep Laura with her and not be alone. Little by little the violence that surrounds him will make him lose control.

A young man named Pau Arrese, maintaining a relationship, somewhat deteriorated, with a girl (Gloria), seen as the reins of his life escape him, when, after a series of unfortunate incidents, ends up in jail. Inside prison, he become sortta friend a with David Velasco, a guy who lives on odd jobs done for a certain mobster. After being released, Pau will be involved in some rackets, with David and other gangsters, that will lead him to the lowest point of his existence.

Two men meet in Barcelona and after spending a day together they realize that they have already met twenty years ago.
