Kidnapped by a villainous sorcerer, young mother Balanagamma (Pushpavalli) remains in captivity for more than 12 years, spurning her captor's sexual advances with claims of being in the midst of a long-term penance ritual. In her absence, her son has grown to adulthood - and is determined to rescue his missing mother.

Ashu (8 year old son)and the parents of the boy are too involved in their daily lives and hence cannot give much time to the boy who always feels lonely. He would only get to be with the maid. On one rainy day the boy saves a drowning mouse and saves his life. He brings the small mouse home and tells the maid about it. People of all castes pay obeisance to the deity with the title-card: 'may this humble offering be accepted by the Lord'.
