I can't lie, I found this incredibly cringey. I tried looking past that given the obvious positive meaning and given it has a kid in the lead role, but every single time the rapping started (and there's a lot [!] of it) I was almost curled up in my seat. There's nothing more cringe than people trying to rap when they just can't, it'd be like me if I just began to rap out the blue. It also doesn't help that the rapping is Kidz Bop-esque, Patrice Wilson in Rebecca Black's Friday-esque. There are a few times when the lead is singing and it actually comes across much better, they should've had Prem doing that instead. Youngster Manny Magnus tries his best, as does Punam Patel, but their performances are just hidden behind the cringe, unfortunately.
Bare, also known as Bare: A Pop Opera, is a coming-of-age rock musical with music by Damon Intrabartolo, lyrics by Jon Hartmere, and a book by Hartmere and Intrabartolo. The story focuses on a group of high school students and their struggles at their private Catholic boarding school.

As a child, Jack believed the tender lie his parents told him, that Gio was a special being with superpowers, as in a comic book. Sidney and Dre can attribute their lifelong friendship and the launch of their careers to one single childhood instant... witnessing the birth of hip-hop on a New York street corner. Now some 15 years later, she is a revered music critic at a national magazine and he is a successful, though unfulfilled, hip-hop record company executive. Both come to realize that their true life passions will only be fulfilled by remembering what they learned that day on the corner.
A visit to a natural history museum proves catastrophic for two high school rivals, an overachiever and a jock, when an ancient Aztec statue casts a spell that causes them to switch bodies and see exactly what it's like to walk in the other's shoes.
Olive, an average high school student, sees her below-the-radar existence turn around overnight once she decides to use the school's gossip grapevine to advance her social standing. Now her classmates are turning against her and the school board is becoming concerned, including her favorite teacher and the distracted guidance counselor. With the support of her hilariously idiosyncratic parents and a little help from a long-time crush, Olive attempts to take on her notorious new identity and crush the rumor mill once and for all.
