Now, over one hundred years later, the bloodthirsty Count Orlok rises once again to cast an unearthly shadow in a feature-length retelling of the classic horror masterpiece. Now Aurelius finds herself undergoing a strange and mysterious journey into a realm darker than any mortal has ever seen... but she is not alone, as Vondrick leads her on this romantic trip into the shadows. A student of the occult encounters supernatural haunts and local evildoers in a village outside of Paris.

The mysterious Count Orlok summons Thomas Hutter to his remote Transylvanian castle in the mountains. The eerie Orlok seeks to buy a house near Hutter and his wife, Ellen. Meanwhile Orlok's servant, Knock, prepares for his master to arrive at his new home.
