Brian Conley is one of the UK's most versatile and popular performers. He has become a household name thanks to such diverse characters as Dangerous Brian, Nick Frisby "It's a puppet", Doug Digby and the legendary Al Jolson. He was born and raised in West London and studied Performing Arts at The Barbara Speake Stage School and then at the age of 16 hit the road and made a living performing cabaret in nightclubs. He began his TV career as a warm up man for Terry Wogan, Noel Edmonds and Kenny Everett, but soon started appearing in front of the cameras with regular appearances in Five Alive and Live from the Palladium. He was soon snapped up by ITV and given his own starring vehicle to demonstrate his unique and versatile talents, this was Brian Conley - This Way Up which was followed by The Brian Conley Show. Circus

Bruno, a sadistic criminal, wants clever con man Leo out of the way. Leo and his equally clever wife, Lily, are up to something. So too is Julius: he hires Leo to kill Gloria, Julius's wife. Leo does it, but then Julius shows up with the murder on tape, saying Gloria isn't his wife - it's blackmail. Leo's bookie, Troy, is also closing in, wanting to be paid. Bruno and Lily as well as Bruno and Julius have their own scams running, and Leo is their target. Maybe Leo can get Troy off his back, avoid Moose (Bruno's huge enforcer), send Gloria's corpse out of England, turn the tables on Bruno's murderous brother Caspar, and outfox Lily. Or is Lily his fox? It's a three-ring circus.

Brian Conley: This Way Up

- Brian Conley: This Way Up was a sketch comedy show starring Brian Conley. It ran from 20 May 1989 to 1 June 1990 on ITV in the United Kingdom. Whilst the show wasn't as popular as its successor, The Brian Conley Show, This Way Up gave one of Conley's most popular characters, Nick Frisbee and Larry the Loafer, their debut. This Way Up ran for two series. The final show ended with Brian saying "See you next year!". Although a third series was never produced in 1991, The Brian Conley Show started the following year. The show led Conley to be named the freshest face on ITV, and he was awarded the "Most Promising Artiste" title at the 1991 Variety Club Awards. During the late 1990s, the show was repeated regularly on satellite channel Granada Plus.

The Grimleys

- The Grimleys is a nostalgic comedy-drama television series set on a council estate in Dudley, West Midlands, England in the mid-1970s. It was first broadcast by Granada TV for ITV in 1999, following a pilot in 1997, and concluded in 2001 after three series. The show was written by Jed Mercurio, who had trained as a doctor and whose first series, Cardiac Arrest - written under the pseudonym 'John MacUre' - had attracted critical plaudits for its dark portrayal of life in a disintegrating British National Health Service. The filming of the school took place in Salford, Buile Hill High, Hope High and Pendleton College, although the filming of the characters' homes actually took place some 80 miles away in the Dudley area itself; around Parkes Hall Road on the Dudley-Sedgley border.
