Nabadwip Haldar was an Indian actor, comedian & theater personality known for work in Bengali cinema. Haldar was born in 1911 in Sonpalashi village, Burdwan district in British India. After completing his primary education, he could not study further and started working at Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation. Haldar also took part-time jobs in different companies in Kolkata. Haldar's debut film was Panchashar made by Debaki Kumar Bose in 1931. He became popular for his character named Madan in the film Sharey Chuattor. Haldar performed in a comedy duo with actor Shyam Laha in various films such as the Bengali version of Laurel and Hardy. He was well known for his unique voice and comic roles. Maryada was a Bengali drama film directed by Digambar Chattopadhyay. This movie was released on 15 December 1950 under the banner of Bhabani Kalamandir Limited. This is the third and first movie in which legendary Bengali actors Uttam Kumar and Bibhu Bhattacharya appeared respectively. In this movie, Uttam Kumar leaps on a song for the first time in his career.

A lady visited Mr. Surajit Roy, a detective, with a proposal to steal a will from a landlord's house. Surajit did not accept the assignment. Soon after, he received a telegram from one Rajib Lochan Choudhury, zamindar of a remote village in Murshidabad district. It appeared that Rajib Lochan's life was in danger. When Surajit visited his house the zamindar had already been murdered. Detective Surajit started an investigation while staying at the house. He saw a nurse, Anima, appointed for Rajib Lochan and recalled that this lady went to him with the proposal of theft. There were several relatives and servants in the house but most of them concealed some or other facts from him. Finally, Surajit was successful in tracking down the real culprit

Swarga Martya

Lalu and Chinta are neighbours and extremely good friends. One morning both of die and reach hell. However Yandyut exclaims that there was a mistake and that they were not the individuals he intended to kill. He orders Lalu and Chinta to be sent back to the earth but the latter claim for a tour of hell as compensation. Soon the friends find themselves back on earth but soon realize that their souls have been exchanges in error. This leads to a series of confusion of themselves as well as their near and dear ones. In the end their souls come back to themselves and there is no bound to their happiness, much to the amusement of the rest who did not know why they were so happy.

After receiving the hospitality, they realized they were in the wrong place. They decided to go to a hotel. After reaching there they met some people and day by day they had different experiences in the city. Then they accidentally reached a film shooting spot and after then through some incident, they reached a police station. After that, they found their house and again did some hilarious incidents in his father-in-law's house.
