Marika Rökk

Profile

Marika Rökk, born Marie Karoline Rökk, was a Hungarian dancer, singer and actress who gained prominence in German films in the Nazi era. In 1924 her family moved to Paris where she learned to dance and starred with the Hoffmann Girls at the Moulin Rouge cabaret. After a tour that led her to Broadway she continued her dance training in the United States. As an acclaimed revue dancer on numerous European stages, Rökk was selected as the ideal candidate to be groomed and promoted as this new type of star and in 1934 was offered a two-year contract with UFA, where she became one of the most prolific film stars of the time. Paul takes care of pretty much everything that concerns Engelmann's private life, but especially Julia, Alexander's six-year-old daughter, who grows up in the motherless household like a charming but wild plant - pretty to look at, but extremely prickly. She needs a mother! But how does Engelmann find a woman who isn't just speculating on the millions? It goes without saying that a lot goes wrong during the search. But thanks to the prudent and level-headed Paul, the right woman is found for Engelmann and a suitable mother for Julchen.

It Was a Gay Ballnight

1865. Katharina goes to a ball in Moscow. There she meets again Tchaikowsky, her first and only love. Both are still in love with each other but Piotr is engaged to Nastassia, a dancer, while for her part Katharina cannot leave her husband. Tchaikowky's first love then decides to sacrifice her happiness to the success of the composer, sponsoring him in secret. Something Piotr will learn only years after. When Katharina finds herself free at last it is too late: Tchaikowsky is dying of cholera and she only has time to close his eyes.

Confusion after confusion until Massaccio is unmasked as Gasparone. Erminio turns out to be a civil servant who was set on Gasparone and now gets his beautiful countess. Sindulfo is the last to embrace his Ita.

In Königswald Castle, eight noble old ladies and their maid are waiting for the end of World War II. The Americans are advancing on the castle from one side, while the Russians are approaching from the other. Suddenly, however, Wehrmacht soldiers barricade themselves in the castle to defend it. But the old ladies do not want to be defended, lest they risk the destruction of their beloved castle. So they hatch a crazy plan to get rid of the German soldiers...

Baroness Marika von Korossy dresses up as a man, in order to compete in a horse race. Her victorious horse, Satan, will only allow her to ride him and throws everyone else off of him. That includes the dandy lieutenant Tibor von Denes, who immediately recognizes that Marika isn't a man. It isn't long before he makes friends with her and even gets her to dance with him. It's then that Marika takes off her hat and shows she's a woman, which causes jealous Ilonka von Peredy to go into a rage. When Marika is forced to sell her estate to raise money, Ilonka is able to get Marika's beloved Satan.

His secretary, Mária, is in love with Sziráky, but to make him jealous, she pretends to be his friend, Dr. Ámon. Mrs Tertayn, who is on the verge of divorce, is also vying for Sziráky. Éva springs into action, brings her father together with Maria after much complication, and finally finds happiness and peace of mind with Doctor Ámon.

Self - The Bambi, often called the Bambi Award and stylised as BAMBI, is a German award presented annually by Hubert Burda Media to recognize excellence in international media and television to personalities in the media, arts, culture, sports, and other fields "with vision and creativity who affected and inspired the German public that year", both domestic and foreign. First held in 1948, it is the oldest media award in Germany. The trophy is named after Felix Salten's book Bambi, A Life in the Woods and its statuettes are in the shape of the novel's titular fawn character. They were originally made of porcelain until 1958, when the organizers switched to using gold, with the casting done by the art casting workshop of Ernst Strassacker in Süßen.
