_**Greg and Marcia discover they're not REALLY brother and sister**_ After the great success of "The Brady Bunch Movie" in 1995 the producers didn't waste time in offering a sequel the very next year that's even better. Both films poke fun at the Brady's wholesome and unified spirit, but also highlight their early-70's outlandishness by having the stories take place in the mid-90s. Yet these movies are never meanspirited; there’s a welcome warmheartedness. The cast & guest stars are great, including the villain played by Tim Matheson. Christine Taylor stands out as Marcia, although it's impossible to ever outdo the awesome Maureen McCormick. Jennifer Elise Cox also stands out as Jan, as does Gary Cole as Mike Brady. Shelley Long is effective as Carol Brady burdened by that absurd hairdo. I'm giving this a fairly high grade because it's funny and entertaining from beginning to end. The funniest subplot is the sudden infatuation between Greg and Marcia (after it dawns on them that they're not REALLY brother and sister) while one of the best sequences is the public pool scene, embellished by black versions of Jan, Marcia & Cindy. The film runs 90 minutes and was shot in Santa Monica & Los Angeles, CA, and Hawaii. GRADE: A-
Saving Norman tells the story of a hypochondriac ex-ping pong player who missed the biggest tournament of his career because of a cold. Now years later he lives a hermetic existence with his parrot Norman. But, when Norman seems to be suffering from a case of bird narcolepsy he calls in pet psychic Belinda who soon realizes that in order to help Norman, she'll first have to help his owner.
A tribute to Mallarmé that not only asserts the continuing relevance of his work but also confronts its literary ambiguities with political and cinematic ambiguities of its own. In outline, the film could not be more straightforward: it offers a recitation of one of Mallarmé’s most celebrated and complex poems (it was his last published work in his own lifetime, appearing in 1897, a year before his death) and proposes a cinematic equivalent for the author’s original experiment with typography and layout by assigning the words to nine different speakers, separating each speaker from the other as she or he speaks, and using slight pauses to correspond with white spaces on the original page.
An anthology of 10 stories depicting real-life incidents of subway riders in New York City, which range from compassion and love to violence and loss.
An ex-pat travels from New York to his home village in rural China after a long absence. On his way, he meets a familiar girl.
A brokenhearted woman teams up with her ex-boyfriend to try and stop the hitman she accidentally hired to kill him.
Two lesbian hookers wind their way through a world of bargain-hunting housewives and double-dealing conservative women in this buddy comedy, an homage to and riff on iconic male hustler films. Margaret is a down-on-her-luck hooker in training, who meets up with Jo, a beautiful and self-assured grifter from a wealthy family and an expert on servicing women, even as she considers herself proudly heterosexual. The film follows their adventures together on the street, through encounters with husky-voiced seductresses, mumbling erotic accessory salesmen and shopaholic swingers. Navigating the bizarre fetishes and sexual needs of their 'dates' brings into focus the hilarious and pathetic disparity between the two hookers, fellow travelers who will share the road together but only for a while.
Luise, called Pünktchen, and Anton are closest of friends. Being the daughter of a wealthy surgeon, young Pünktchen lives in a great house. Her mother, who always travels through the world more for public relation reasons than for the social tasks she pretends to fulfill, is never available to her as a mother. Anton, son of a single and sick mother in financial trouble, does his best to help her out of it by working late. Pünktchen decides to help her only friend (as nobody else would anyway) and starts singing in public places. Trouble arises when Anton can't resist stealing a golden lighter and Pünktchen's secret life is discovered by her parents. Two troubled families finally can see the need for actions to be taken.
It ain't easy bein' green - especially if you're a likable (albeit smelly) ogre named Shrek. On a mission to retrieve a gorgeous princess from the clutches of a fire-breathing dragon, Shrek teams up with an unlikely compatriot - a wisecracking donkey.
A sexy, romantic comedy about modern couples coming together in funny and unexpected ways. Paul and Hannah discover that even after 40 years of marriage, they can still learn some very surprising things about each other. Meredith is a serious theatre director who isn't looking for a relationship... but has one looking for her in the person of the funny, persistent Trent. Then there's Joan and Keenan, young people searching for love in an L.A. club scene where the rules of dating seem to change every night.

On Christmas Eve, Jonah rings a radio phone-in with his Christmas wish to find a new wife for his dad.
