A little too repetitive at times, but 'The Ugly Dachshund' still entertains to a suitable level. The plot is somewhat nonexistent, all of this film's perks come with its silliness, humour and acting - all of which are more than decent. Dean Jones & Suzanne Pleshette are fun in their respective roles of Mark & Fran. Charlie Ruggles (Pruitt) & Kelly Thordsen (Carmody) are alright too. The animals are as cute as you would expect, everything involving them is very silly and even nonsensical in moments. If you just switch your brain off and enjoy the madness that ensues then you'll have a fine time. If this was on for longer than 93 minutes then I would've certainly rated it lower. However, as it isn't, I feel it's right to class it as good.
Great Dane Marmaduke epitomizes the overgrown lapdog, with an irascible streak and a penchant for mischief that is tempered with a deep sense of love and responsibility for his human family, the Winslows. The new animation is set in the world of elite dog shows, rife divas, rivalries and slapstick comedy.
After falling head over hooves in love with Giselle, Elliot's road to the altar takes a slight detour when Mr. Weenie is kidnapped by a group of pampered pets determined to return him to his owners.
This animated take on Oliver Twist re-imagines Oliver as an adorable orphaned kitten who struggles to survive in New York City and falls in with a band of canine criminals led by an evil human. First, Oliver meets Dodger, a carefree mutt with street savoir faire. But when Oliver meets wealthy Jenny on one of the gang's thieving missions, his life changes forever.
When Phil and Debbie Winslow relocate from their native Kansas to the sunny climes of Orange County, their big-hearted, havoc-wreaking Great Dane gets a taste of the dog's life, California-style.
Bertram Pincus, a cranky, people-hating Manhattan dentist, develops the unwelcome ability to see dead people. Really annoying dead people. Even worse, they all want something from him, particularly Frank Herlihy, a smooth-talking ghost, who pesters him into a romantic scheme involving his widow Gwen. They are soon entangled in a hilarious predicament between the now and the hereafter!
The prodigal son of a Yukon prospector comes home on a night that "ain't fit for man nor beast."
A dachshund passes from oddball owner to oddball owner, whose radically dysfunctional lives are all impacted by the pooch.
A musical comedy where a Parisian dachshund is tasked with painting a portrait of a chihuahua who won't stop shaking. Only a trio of minstrels can help show that there's more to his shake than meets the eye.
The first musical comedy from the Grand National assembly line, Hats Off stars John Payne and Mae Clarke as rival press agents Jimmy Maxwell and Jo Allen. Both have been assigned to stir up publicity for separate expositions at the 1936 Texas Centennial (newsreel footage of which predominates throughout the film's short running time). To throw Jimmy off the track, Jo pretends to be a schoolteacher, but by the time the ruse has been revealed, the two leading characters have fallen in love.
Three friends, who have known each other for a long time, decide to enter a singing and musical competition. The events that lead to this competition, and their personal lives, including their romantic ties, is the theme of this movie. Included are popular Burman Movie songs, a delight to hear any time.
