An odd thing. Following 10 years on from the release of 'The Outlaw Josey Wales', it's difficult to see why 'The Return of Josey Wales' even exists - especially without the involvement of the original's star, Clint Eastwood. It was hardly going to be a moneymaker, either. I found this 1986 flick to be extremely slow and uninteresting, none of the actors or characters stick out even minutely. Michael Parks is an OK cast on paper, but as Josey Wales he just doesn't fit what we've previously seen from the character. Rafael Campos, in his final film role, would be the one I'd name as the standout if asked, but that's just via a process of elimination. It's the absolute definition of pointless, and to make it even less enjoyable they continue the irritating chewing tobacco spitting thing from the first film. There are also some ultra amateur swoosh-like transitions used, which cheapen the whole thing further. No hate from me at all, but this is a very poor release from the 80s.
Clint Barkley first sees Smoky as a runaway, and drives him back to the ranch where he meets the owner, Julie Richards. He is given a job on her ranch, but the head cowhand is doubtful about Clint and fears that since he refuses to talk about himself, he must have some dreadful secret in his past. Clint and Smoky become close to each other, weathering the hardships of Western life and the suspicions of others together, until one day, Smoky tragically vanishes. Will Clint ever see him again?
On the Texas-Mexico border in the 1850s, a 14-year-old Tennesseean nicknamed The Kid stumbles into a nightmarish world where Indians are being murdered and the market for their scalps is thriving.
Two peanut vendors at a rodeo show get in trouble with their boss and hide out on a railroad train heading west. They get jobs as cowboys on a dude ranch, despite the fact that neither of them knows anything about cowboys, horses, or anything else.
Wounded Civil War soldier John Dunbar tries to commit suicide—and becomes a hero instead. As a reward, he's assigned to his dream post, a remote junction on the Western frontier, and soon makes unlikely friends with the local Sioux tribe.
After some typical Western hero actions, a theatrical gunfighter interacts with his fans.
The Arizona Territory, the 1870's. Marshal Frank Wilcox, along with a Buffalo Soldier from the U.S. Army, must galvanize a group of survivors to fight back when the living dead rise and seek the flesh of the living. It's a world gone mad and a battle against the unthinkable. Joined by an Apache Chief and an outlaw prisoner, the group must learn how to survive in a time where the dead walk.
An old geezer recalls some of the antics of the men and women of his western town, more wild and woolly than Tombstone or Dodge City. In this town no one is a good shot, the women are hungry for new meat, and practical jokers abound. A stranger strolls into town, proving resistant to the mayhem, and after donning some cowboy duds begins cleaning up that town.
Stodge City is in the grip of the Rumpo Kid and his gang. Mistaken identity again takes a hand as a 'sanitary engineer' named Marshal P. Knutt is mistaken for a law marshal. Being the conscientious sort, Marshal tries to help the town get rid of Rumpo, and a showdown is inevitable. Marshal has two aids—revenge-seeking Annie Oakley and his sanitary expertise.
In the days of the "Wild West," a gunslinger, with a price on his head, discovers the body of a traveling minister who has been killed in an ambush. Fearing those who are following him, he assumes the dead minister's identity.
An oppressed Mexican peasant village hires seven gunfighters to help defend their homes.
