A Howling Success

Short comedy based on a Second City sketch.

Finding an unfinished script written by Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese attempts to recreate it himself as Hitchcock would have.

The film consists of a series of tightly interlinked vignettes, the most sustained of which details the story of a man and a woman who are passionately in love. Their attempts to consummate their passion are constantly thwarted, by their families, by the Church and bourgeois society in general.

In gleeful pursuit of her identity, Jen tries on other people's lifestyles, crossing every line of appropriate behavior and making a mockery of all she embraces. She gloms onto her gay neighbor Ken and his community, joyfully declaring herself a "hag fag!"
