A woman named Agnes who emigrated to the USA returns to her home village with her new husband Algot. When Agnes' childhood friend David turns up it's the start of a love triangle.

Gypsy dancer Hassina falls in love with lion tamer Brazil and travels to London to find him. Brazil is supposedly working at the Crystal Palace, but he is not there when Hassina arrives.
