Once captured, their last night together will reveal dark secrets and create sexual tensions. So much so that it will cause unforeseen collateral damage that stretches well beyond the jungle. This highly provocative and erotic film was part of Eroddity(s) 2. Now re-worked as a stand-alone short the film seems to take on new meaning.

The Male Gaze is a new series of releases from New Queer Visions that showcases short LGBTQ films from across the world. The first instalment, First Kiss, brings together five shorts that are based around men experiencing romantic and/or sexual interaction with other men for the first time. It takes in films from Sweden, Indonesia, USA, Australia and France giving a rounded look at how similar experiences are depicted across the world. Far in the future, a woman wakes up in an escape pod on the surface of an empty alien planet dotted with the remains of an ancient alien civilization. Faced with isolation and the threat of death from the toxic night air, she must travel across the barren landscape and find a way to send a message home. She copes with alternating emotions of hope and loneliness and encounters semblances of human presences that push and pull these feelings within her. All the while she is overshadowed by the immense monolith on the horizon, a leftover of the alien civilization that existed on the planet countless years before. Her journey transforms over time, evolving from a focus on her character in the face of impending death to a study of absence and presence, transience and endurance. Her journey towards the crash site and the giant monolith becomes a race against time as she seeks a way to leave her mark and not be forgotten.

What is more miserable than love-blighted life? For the heart that truly loves can never forget. Such is the sad fate of the hero of this Biograph story.

The Agency is a modern and stylish take on middle class female empowerment, amidst the social sub-culture, described collectively as "ladies who lunch". Disillusioned with a decade of domesticity, housewife Hannah Baines (Ania Sowinski), is befriended by an enigmatic older woman Anthea (Lesley Manville,) who introduces a select and seductive inner circle of women. In confidence, Anthea recommends a private and reliable company who "can set up something marvellous" for her. Hannah contemplates the implications of attending her initial consultation, at The Agency.
