I read the reviews and poor scores for this film so my expectations were low. But somewhere after the first couple stories, I asked myself the same question as these filmmakers did: "Tell me how you really feel about 2020 in 20 minutes?" I myself would've been at a loss. The question yields another perspective and appreciation for these stories. Even Lowery's it-takes-a-pandemic-to-get-me-to-dig-up-my-dead-brother wasn't bad. Chen's comment on the dramatic pandemic-related increase of domestic violence was spot on. Panahi's biopic of how our elders suffer differently than us was touching. Vitthal's heartwarming personal story just reminds us of the continuing class difference even in how the pandemic affected us. The pièce de résistance was, of course, the duality of Weerasethakul's Buddhist world-view that insects don't give a shit about your pandemic ego, dude. And Poitras? Well, I'm in the business. It's worse, and way more dangerous, than she says.
Jamie and Allie are amateur sleuths whose grandfather runs a small security business. One afternoon, while digging around on their own, they accidentally stumble onto a major case.
A strange mortician tells four horrific tales to three drug dealers that he traps in their local funeral parlor.
Pedro, an indigenous migrant, returns to his village for his mother's funeral. When he learns of the serious problem his brother Ismael is involved in, he decides to stay and face the consequences of his absence.
Nanni Moretti recalls in his diary three slice of life stories characterized by a sharply ironic look: in the first one he wanders through a deserted Rome, in the second he visits a reclusive friend on an island, and in the last he has to grapple with an unknown illness.
As the community quarantine puts the nation on hold, a political science major and a student working part time as a delivery driver butt heads online – but soon find themselves falling for each other. Will their love survive once it’s taken offline?
Amidst the pandemic, a woman embarks on a treacherous journey through the wilderness to reach her brother while grappling with her mental state.
Professor Philip Goodman devotes his life to exposing phony psychics and fraudulent supernatural shenanigans. His skepticism soon gets put to the test when he receives news of three chilling and inexplicable cases - disturbing visions in an abandoned asylum, a car accident deep in the woods and the spirit of an unborn child. Even scarier - each of the macabre stories seems to have a sinister connection to the professor's own life.
