Anton Karastoyanov

Anton Mitev Karastoyanov was a Bulgarian actor. He was born on April 14, 1939 in Elhovo, Bulgaria. He graduated National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, Bulgaria in 1966 with a degree in "acting". He worked in the Gabrovo Drama Theater, in Satire Theater and in the National Theatre. Anton was called by friends and colleagues "Tony the Wrinkle". Viewers have remembered his roles in "The Boy is going", "Tattoo", "Perverse Man", "Love", "Glow over Drava", "Rural Area", "Buna", "Daughter in Law", "Addendum to the Law on Protection of the State" and "The Double". He played memorable characters in the theater in "Learning to Fly" by Yordan Radichkov, "Major Barbara" by Bernard Shaw, "Last time" by Valentin Rasputin, "Ivan Kondarev" by Emilian Stanev and "Under the Yoke" by Ivan Vazov. Karastoyanov was awarded the title "Honored Artist" in 1981. He won Second prize of the Review of the Soviet drama for his role in "Optimistic tragedy". He died on December 21, 2004 in Sofia. Love

Maria is having great difficulty getting on with her parents because of their blind, consumerist approach to life. Traumatized by continuous family dramas, having experienced the disappointments of firs love, Maria decides to go up the mountain to a holiday home. There she meets a conceited architect, a shy teacher, a jurist, and a timid journalist (all of them representatives of the intelligentsia) who are domineered by the manager of the holiday home and his 'problems'. Maria's resignation changes into a rebellion against impersonal submission and sheep-like compliance with those who hold power.

The Goat Horn

Two adolescents, Sauly and Mick, get to know each other while hitchhiking and stick together for the long haul. They both want to reach the ocean, which is some thousand kilometers away. An old car picks them up, but the trip ends shortly thereafter in a sleazy motel. At the bar, a man named Landolfi approaches them. He explains to Sauly that he must have sold his guardian angel to a man by the name of Miller in the city of Prince. Though the boys do not believe in guardian angels, Sauly slowly succumbs to his own fears. He would like to have his guardian angel back again. On their trip, Sauly becomes sick. Mick works on a farm to pay the doctor's bills. Once Sauly is well, they travel farther - until they reach Prince. In this mysterious city, all of the people are named Miller, and once Sauly and Mick finally are at the ocean, they meet Landolfi once more.

The Boy Turns Man

The action centers on Ran and his schoolmates who are in the last year of school. They are only a few days away from the day when they will have to make a decisive choice: what are they going to be, and what is more important, how are they going to live? In the whirlpool of meetings with different people and mainly with three women, the filmmakers are trying to see the future of their main character. His schoolmate Mariana wants to lead him into family life. The pop singer Neli is the very incarnation of adventurism. However, he is most deeply touched by the salesgirl in the near-by coffee shop Tintyava. This is a wordless affair in which each glance exchanged betrays the piercing excitement of impossible love.

To Eat the Apple

Maria, a beautiful middle-aged woman, former participant in the fight against Nazism is killed. The investigator Urumov discovers the criminal. Urumov wants to know the reason why Dzherikarov has committed the murder. Dzherikarov is a former officer of the king army. Maria's memories expose the fact that she has arrested his commander in the past. By killing Maria, he wants to save his understanding of "officer's honor". Urumov sees that Maria's daughter leaves at the mother's grave an apple. In order to save her illusion, he eats the apple every time. In final talk with Dzherikarov, the murderer condemns himself to death and eats the apple.

The Dragon

The father decides to celebrate New Year no matter what.

Villa Zone

A common Bulgarian family spends a warm afternoon in the fall in a country house. The preparations for a dinner party are in full swing. The formal reason is that the son enlists in the Army and the real reason is to arrange a match between him and the daughter of the boss. All the schemes are frustrated as it turns out that the boy has already married another girl. Both the hosts and the guests lose control, unleashing a consecution of tragic or comic situations.

A silly prince wants to marry a beautiful peasant girl. His guards kidnap her, but the girl escapes and returns to her beloved. Meanwhile, a UFO lands in the kingdom and the aliens witness nuisances, court intrigues, and lies. They are not allowed to meddle in other people's affairs, but they still influence the happy ending.

Gunpowder

The police trucks and the piled up dead partisans in the village square shatter the peace of the village. The people manage to not only bear these extreme conditions, but also manage to take part in history. An army blocks off the village. Arrests and interrogation are common. The partisans are hiding in the forest. One of the soldiers manages to run off to them. The pot maker is among their aids and is killed while completing a mission.
