All around boring sexploitation film that isn't all that sleazy (though plenty of nudity, but everything was rather tame) though I guess props to some of the underwater photography and gore effects when the Jaws portion of the film, which only makes up maybe 10% of the film, is on-screen. Did make me sqeamish seeing real life fish and sharks being killed for a film like this. From what I read, there is apparently a two-hour version, I cannot imagine sitting through that, 87-minutes was a tough sit for me. Frankly there's very little redeeming. **1.25/5**

It's 1980. Malin is fatherless, angry, and in trouble. At 20, he's spent a year in jail for assaulting a lover of Lily, his mother. In her desk he finds a soldier's photograph and assumes he's found his father. He confronts the man, now a teacher, and gets nowhere. At home again, he mocks his mother. Finally, she tells him her grim story, from the year before his birth. We see a people's court, where Lily's parents seek justice for their grandchild to be. We follow Lily to a prison camp, to the city where she's told to inform on the only person who's been kind, to an asylum, and finally to her current poverty and loneliness. How will Malin respond to these revelations?
Two men are released from the Arizona Territorial Prison at Yuma in 1898. One, The Dutchman, is out to get both gold and revenge from certain people in a small mining town who had him imprisoned unjustly. The other, McBain, is just trying to go straight, but that is easier said than done once The Dutchman involves him in his gold theft scheme. Based on the 1949 novel The Asphalt Jungle by W. R. Burnett, the story is given an 1898 setting. It is the second film adaptation of the novel following 1950's noir classic The Asphalt Jungle.
