When Inspector Yadav (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) shoots down a criminal couple in the line of duty, his heart goes out to their orphaned baby son Krishna. He adopts the child, who grows up with Yadav's own daughter, Gauri (Farha). As they grow up, Krishna (Sunny Deol) and Gauri fall in love - but an obstacle is looming in their path in the form of Yadav's young second wife (Sujata Mehta), who is attracted to the handsome Krishna, and in her jealousy proceeds to do all she can to destroy the young couple's chances of happiness.

This film is about a university graduate Jackie Shroff, who can get no better job than a petrol pump employee, a girl Padmini Kolhapure, who is struggling to pay for college, and others in a building owned by Prem Chopra, who attempts to evict them with the help of Shakti Kapoor.

Rajan Mathur (Anil Kapoor) is a Professor in Urdu literature in Dr. Zakir Hussain's College. He resides in Chandni Chowk with his activist wife, Roma Mathur (Shefali Shah). All these aspects when combined makes the case sound weird and that grabs the attention of Samrat. Samrat along with his assistant friend, Chakradhar Pandey, visits the huge estate of Mahendra Pratap Singh. As he starts investigating, he discovers lots of mysterious facts.
